چکیده

Discrete event simulation is widely used within the networking community for purposes such as demonstrating the validity of network protocols and architec-tures. Depending on the level of detail modeled within the simulation, the running time and memory requirements can be excessive. The goal of our research is to develop and demonstrate a practical, scalable approach to parallel and distributed simulation that will enable widespread reuse of sequential network simulation models and software. We focus on an approach to paral-lelization where an existing network simulator is used to build models of subnetworks that are composed to create simulations of larger networks. Changes to the original simulator are minimized, enabling the parallel simulator to easily track enhancements to the sequential version. In this paper we describe our lessons learned in applying this approach to the publicly available ns 9] software package, and converting it to run in a parallel fashion on a network of workstations. This activity highlights a number of important problems, from the standpoint of how to parallelize an existing serial simulation model and achieving acceptable parallel performance .

A new virtual leader-following consensus protocol to internal and string stability analysis of longitudinal platoon of vehicles with generic network topology under communication and parasitic delays

In this paper, a new virtual leader following consensus protocol is introduced to perform the internal and string stability analysis of longitudinal platoon of vehicles under generic network topology. In all previous studies on multi-agent systems with generic network topology, the control parameters are strictly dependent on eigenvalues of network matrices (adjacency or Laplacian). Since some ...

Improvement and parallelization of Snort network intrusion detection mechanism using graphics processing unit

Nowadays, Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) are widely used to provide full security on computer networks. IDS are categorized into two primary types, including signature-based systems and anomaly-based systems. The former is more commonly used than the latter due to its lower error rate. The core of a signature-based IDS is the pattern matching. This process is inherently a computatio...

Mts: a Light Framework for Parallelizing Tree Search Codes

We describe version 0.1 of mts, a generic framework for parallelizing certain types of tree search programs using a single common wrapper. This complements a previous tutorial that focused on using a preliminary version of mts. mts supports sharing information between processes which is important for applications such as satisfiability testing and branch-and-bound. No parallelization is impleme...

Parallel Object Oriented Monte Carlo Simulations

We discuss the parallelization and object-oriented implementation of Monte Carlo simulations for physical problems. We present a C++Monte Carlo class library for the automatic parallelization of Monte Carlo simulations. Besides discussing the advantages of object-oriented design in the development of this library, we show examples how C++ template techniques have allowed very generic but still ...

Parallelization of Rich Models for Steganalysis of Digital Images using a CUDA-based Approach

There are several different methods to make an efficient strategy for steganalysis of digital images. A very powerful method in this area is rich model consisting of a large number of diverse sub-models in both spatial and transform domain that should be utilized. However, the extraction of a various types of features from an image is so time consuming in some steps, especially for training pha...
